OUR INGREDIENTS

We are a small soap company crafting nourishing goat milk and vegan coconut milk soaps and body care, suitable for people with delicate or sensitive skin.

Our aim is to keep it simple using natural plant-based ingredients and minimal packaging. The ingredients are carefully sourced from our garden, small local farmers and suppliers, plus our soaps are never tested on animals and now free from palm oil.

MAIN INGREDIENTS:

COCONUT OIL is one of the key ingredients to our soaps and we use it to help make a hard bubbly soap bar, especially since we don’t use any palm oil. Coconut’s caprylic, capric, and lauric fatty acids are anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial helping to cleanse and remove dirt.

OLIVE OIL has been used in soap making for thousands of years, and is a wonderful addition making a very gentle soap. Olive oil is mild, has low lather and good moisturizing properties thus wonderful for people with extra sensitive skin. Our soaps contain a large portion of high-quality virgin olive oil.

SHEA BUTTER is a thick rich butter obtained from the nuts of the African shea tree. It is widely used in soaps and cosmetics to provide deep moisturisation, anti-aging and healing benefits to the skin. Packed full of vitamins, the high level of cinnamic acid also gives shea butter a bit of natural sunscreen. We use a raw, un-refined shea butter in our soaps.

COCOA BUTTER is the creamy-yellow, edible vegetable fat which is pressed from the seeds of the cacao tree, the same tree used to make chocolate. It is great for healing and moisturising sensitive skin. It gives soap a very creamy lather and adds extra hardness which helps the natural bar soap last longer. We use organic cocoa butter in our soaps.

RAPESEED OIL is a beautiful, deep yellow nutty oil which is extremely moisturizing and contributes to creamy lather. The best part is it is locally grown here in the UK and we use local cold-pressed varieties when possible. As well as this it’s a great source of Omega 3, 6, 9 and Vitamin E, which helps hydrate and protect the skin.

CASTOR OIL comes from pressing the seeds of the castor bean. It creates amazing lather in cold process soap and also helps draw moisture to the skin and hair, so it stays smooth.

GOAT MILK, the star attraction in our soaps, is responsibly sourced from a small local farm where the goats are kept primarily as pets and treated with respect and kindness. Goat milk contains alpha-hydroxy acids such as lactic acid, vitamins and minerals. These acids help to gently remove dead skin cells from your skin’s surface, leaving a new softer skin.

COCONUT MILK, the plant-based alternative used in our vegan soaps, is high in Vitamin C and E, which is well regarded for bringing benefits to dry skin. Coconut Milk in soap is a great vegan alternative to goat milk and is also gentle on the skin and is perfect for people who suffer from eczema, delicate or dry skin. It is ultra-soothing, balancing and moisturising for irritated skin. We use organic coconut milk which does not contain any preservatives or additives.

OTHER ADDITIONS:

ACTIVATED CHARCOAL, made specifically for use in the food and cosmetic industry by steam activating coconut. Helpful for skin problems, especially oily skin, it gently exfoliates and absorbs toxins and dirt from clogged pores and helps reduce body odour. Our soap bars that have any black or grey coloration in them contain activated charcoal. Don’t worry as it does not stain your skin.

ALOE VERA has long been known as a miracle worker for skin and the benefits are almost endless. It moisturizes, helps treats sunburn and skin irritations, wounds, skin inflammation, and reduces scarring. We add Aloe Vera powder to some of our soaps for its silkiness and gentle benefits.

BEESWAX is sourced from local British beekeepers in raw, filtered form. Beeswax is also a natural emollient and humectant, meaning that it can protect the skin and lock in moisture; keeping it soft and hydrated with its high vitamin A content too.

CALENDULA is another one of the plants we use in our products. From the same species as marigolds, it is very calming to the skin, a powerful antioxidant and a strong anti-viral. Whereas most herbs and fruits eventually turn brown, calendula has the rare quality of retaining its bright sunny yellow colour ever after being dried.

CEDARWOOD ESSENTIAL OIL is extracted directly from the wood of cedar trees.  A natural antiseptic, cedarwood oil can promote hair growth and sooth the skin, as well as treat skin problems like eczema. It has an irresistible clean woodsy scent that is recognisable in our woodland soap bar.

CLAYS: ROSE CLAY, ILLITE CLAY, RED CLAY, KAOLIN WHITE CLAY, FRENCH GREEN: We use a variety of natural cosmetic clays in our soaps. These act as gentle detoxifiers and exfoliators as well as adding a silky feel and providing the soap bars with amazing natural colours.

LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL is arguably the most useful essential oil, it has an almost miraculous reputation for healing & calming anti-inflammatory properties, reducing headaches, relieving stress, repelling bugs, fighting infections, cold sores, bee stings, acne, great for hair, scalp, and skin!  We use this wonderful oil in our Lavender & Orange Scrub soap, Lavender & Sandalwood soap, Relax shower steamers and our Sleepy coconut milk bath soak.

MAY CHANG ESSENTIAL OIL (aka Litsea Cubeba) is a floral lemony scent that is a produced from the small fruit of a shrub. Along with being anti-fungal and antibacterial, it can be toning for oily skin. May Chang is also used aromatically to alleviate stress, anxiety, and relieve respiratory conditions. We use this in our Calendula & May Chang soap for its uplifting lemony scent.

OATMEAL is a very gentle cleanser, high in beta-glucans which help to reduce inflammation and soothe skin. Oats are also excellent at balancing combination skin; removing excess oils whilst moisturising. We use this in our Black Raspberry soap to add gentle exfolation.

PATCHOULI ESSENTIAL OIL is distilled from the leaves of the pogostemon cablin plant, a perennial herb a close relative of mint and lavender. It is best remembered as a very popular perfume used by hippies in the 1960s, and its rich musky scent is still used primarily as an incense and perfume base. We use this in our Lavender & Orange Scrub soap, Patchouli & Orange Botanical Goat Milk Soap.

PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL, derived from the leaves of the mentha pipertita plant, has active components of menthol and menthone, which are known to reduce pain and tingle on the skin, invigorate, energize, and prevent the growth of harmful bacteria, disinfect and soothe inflamed skin.

PUMPKIN SEED OIL is nourishing and helps skin retain moisture. Rich in carotenoids, vitamin E, zinc, omega 3- and 6- fatty acids as well as antioxidants, we use pumpkin seed oil in our beeswax balms giving them a rich nutty colour.

SPEARMINT ESSENTIAL OIL is extracted from the leave of the leafy spearmint herb. Gentler than peppermint, the herb itself is widely used as a cure for digestive discomforts like gas and indigestion, as well as for alleviating nausea, cramps and pain. It has an amazing uplifting scent and makes our Black Magic soap a firm favourite.
